The Stories Behind the Music for the August 9 Show:  Billy Eckstine had a fantastic big band  1944-47.  Most only know of his amazing singing voice and ballad hits of the fifties. However, B’s band had more big time jazz soloists than even Basie and Ellington.  It’s a great story.  Also fun is the relationship between Curtis Stigers and Gene Harris and the jam sessions at the Boise hotel at 10th & Main.
