Syracuse, NY:  Studio C at WCNY was alight with giggles and proud-parent smiles when thirteen children were honored Monday as winners of the Treehouse Tales Young Writers & Illustrators Contest.  The contest is an annual event for children in Kindergarten through Third Grade (K-3) and promotes literacy and creative expression by encouraging children to write and illustrate their own stories. 

“There were an overwhelming number of submissions this year,” said Sue Butler, Coordinator of the Family Literacy Program at WCNY.  “From among 350 creative and touching stories we were challenged to choose just thirteen winners.  It was a joy reading all of the stories and an honor spending the afternoon letting these children know just how truly talented they are.”

Kindergarten: “Tinsels Great Adventure,” by Madison, General William Floyd Elementary (1st Place); “The Seasons Change and So Do I,” by Nancy, St. Patrick’s School (2nd Place); “The Magic Unicorn,” by Ashlyn, L.
