WCNY WINS 1ST PLACE HONOR FROM SYRACUSE
PRESS CLUB AND FIVE PRESTIGIOUS TELLY AWARDS

The WCNY-produced documentary “Dream Destinations: New York State’s Contemporary Canals” received first place honors in May from the Syracuse Press Club during their 30th Annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards Ceremony at the University Sheraton.  “Dream Destinations” is a canal-side journey showcasing the historic, cultural, natural and recreational assets that abound on the Erie Canal.  This program airs again July 29th at 9PM on WCNY. Each year, the Syracuse Press Club recognizes members of the local news media and media relations professionals for noteworthy projects completed during the past year.

In addition to the Syracuse Press Club honor, WCNY walked away with five awards at the 29th Annual Telly Awards, one award for each category submitted.  Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions.  The Telly Awards annually showcase the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.  Among over 14,000 national and international entries to the competition, “Dream Destinations” won a Silver Telly, the highest honor.  Three Bronze Tellys went to “The Performers: Taking Center Stage in New York State Agriculture,” “Ola Onabule in Concert” and “WCNY’S Classic Movie Night.”  WCNY Axxess Productions also won a Bronze Telly for “Auspicious Vision: Edward Wales Root and American Modernism.”
