WCNY is hosting an open house and digital television conversion demonstration on Sunday, September 28 from 1-4 p.m. at the WCNY Studios, 506 Old Liverpool Road in Liverpool.  In anticipation of the upcoming federally-mandated transition to digital television (DTV) by February 17, 2009, WCNY developed this event to clarify all points of the conversion and to give attendees an opportunity to see how radio and television broadcasts occur at the station.  The “Friends of WCNY” and the WCNY Technology and Operations Department are hosting this event which is open to the public.  

Attendees will be able to register online for their government converter coupon at the event with the help of the WCNY staff.  In addition, the event will cover the practical “how-tos” of the conversion, demonstrate the difference of true high-definition television, and provide the opportunity to win a converter box.  Dale Wagner, the director of programming for WCNY, will be on-hand to answer programming questions.  Refreshments served.
