WCNY WINS PRESTIGIOUS SYRACUSE pRESS CLUB AWARDS IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS

WCNY swept the public affairs television category at the Syracuse Press Club’s 31st Annual Awards Recognition and Scholarship Dinner held May 9. George Kilpatrick and Amy Manley place for “Business Close-Up,” a WCNY production that ran from 2006 until 2008 and offered business news, trends and advice that spotlighted Central New York companies. Liz Ayers, Amy Manley and Debbie Stack won 2nd place for “Evolving Medicine,” a two-part series produced by WCNY that explored alternatives in medical care, including acupuncture and Reiki.

"I’m always thrilled when the WCNY team receives public recognition for their hard work,” said Robert J. Daino, President and Chief Executive Officer of WCNY-TV/FM, and Chair of APBS. “This is a welcomed reminder that WCNY-TV acts as the media hub for Central New York’s public affairs programming.”

Each year, the Syracuse Press Club recognizes members of the local news media and media relations professionals for noteworthy projects completed during the past year. WCNY’s George Kilpatrick and Liz Ayers co-hosted the evening’s event.
