THE YTV CHANNEL

Your family, Your issues, Your life

Thanks to input from your Community Public Affairs Committee, representatives for the public we serve, WCNY is proud to announce a new lineup on channel 24.2/cable 851 newly dubbed the Y-TV Channel. You spoke loudly about the lack of family-friendly programming in the primetime hours of the night. And you spoke just as loud about a gap in trusted, reliable, accessible news programming. You spoke, we listened. And we ACTED! The Y channel is your television, your way… for your family, your issues, and your life. See page 31 for Y-TV's complete listings.

HIT THE COUCH - IT'S FAMILY TIME!

YTV has brought back the classics to bring you together. How many nights have you and your kids simply gone your separate ways after supper time? Well, not any more! WCNY is serving up a two-hour family block on YTV from 6-8 p.m. every night of the week to bring the family back together. And we've chosen programs that will appeal to both you and your kids: "Family Ties," "My Three Sons," "Happy Days," "Twilight Zone" and more!

"My Three Sons" – The classic family comedy that ran from 1960-1972 and followed the life of widower Steve Douglas and his three sons.

"Happy Days" – If your little ones stare blankly back at you when you try and imitate The Fonz, share a piece of your history with back-to-back episodes every weeknight on YTV.

"Family Ties" – From 1982 to 1989, we fell in love with the gentle drama and comedy of the Keatons. Now they’re back to give you and your family a laugh to remember.

"Brady Bunch" – Here’s a story… of you and your family sitting down to an All-American classic! No childhood is complete without the Bradys, and we’ve got them here – on YTV!

"The Twilight Zone" – Rod Serling's creepy classic will stretch your family’s mind as they stretch out on the couch!

"Mission Impossible" – Here’s a mission that’s not impossible: invite your kids to sit down to a government agent thriller! And then tell them they can watch it again and again every Saturday on YTV!

"Matlock" – Ooh… mystery Sunday! What family doesn’t want to curl up to that?

"Hawaii Five-O" – This series ran for 12 seasons and followed the fictitious Hawaii state police department. Mystery Sunday continues on YTV!

NEWS JUNKIE ALERT

For those news junkies out there jumping from the AP wire to Slate.com to NPR, WCNY's decided to feed your habit. Following the family block from 6-8 p.m. on YTV, you can count on four straight hours of news, news, NEWS! News programming will include a repeat of "Central Issues" at 8 p.m. each weeknight as well as programs such as "WorldFocus," "BBC World News," "NewsHour," "The Ivory Tower Half Hour," and the "Nightly Business Report." We will also be including some programs new to WCNY's viewers such as "Inside Washington," "This is America with Dennis Wholey," and John McLaughlin's "One on One."
