Since 2002, The Ivory Tower Half Hour is WCNY’s most trusted and most thorough commentary on local, regional and national major news events. The show is aired on WCNY Friday’s at 8:00pm. The engaging round-table discussions are hosted and mediated by David Rubin, Professor of Communications at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

The Ivory Tower Half Hour maintains six regular panelists who are connected with various Central New York universities. The panelists engage weekly in civilized deliberations which at times are in accord with one another and at other times are not. The panelists include: Kristi Andersen, Professor of Political Science at the Maxwell School at Syracuse University; Tim Byrnes, Professor of Political Science at Colgate University; Lisa Dolak Professor at the Syracuse University College of Law; Bob Greene, The Paul J. Schupf Professor of History and Humanities at Cazenovia College; Tara Ross, Professor of History at Onondaga Community College; and Bob Spitzer , Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at SUNY Cortland. Occasionally, Barbara Fought, a Professor at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University will be featured as a guest host.

The Ivory Tower Half Hour is currently scheduled to be in the newly developed “Think Bright” programming that allows PBS stations from all over the state of New York an opportunity to air the series. Join the Ivory Tower Half Hour gang every Friday at 8:00 p.m. on WCNY and stay connected to what’s “really happening” in the news today.
