READ-OUT is a free service used to inform and entertain blind and visually challenged residents of Central New York. Wherever you receive our signal, you can hear READ-OUT via a specially tuned single-frequency radio.
READ-OUT is on the air 24/7 featuring news and information from across the spectrum of interests and entertainment.
You can hear our local newspaper, the Syracuse Post-Standard, everyday, along with an assortment of magazines and best sellers. Plus, our affiliation with the Radio Talking Book Network brings the New York Times and its many sections, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, New Yorker, National Geographic, and much more to those using the service. Even though the schedule may need to change at the last minute, below we have included the program guide for the week for you to review.
You can hear the Syracuse Post-Standard 7-days/week at 10:15am and again at 4:15 and the New York Times every evening at 7pm. We will update our Read-Out schedule soon. Watch for the new link here.
READ-OUT is a credit to the volunteer team of trained readers, and READ-OUT always needs readers. If you are interested, use e-mail to contact Marie Lamb at marie_lamb@wcny.org or Peter McElvein at peter_mcelvein@wcny.org or either of them by telephone (315) 453-2424 to see if your schedule matches our needs.
You may also contact them for information about procuring a radio that receives the READ-OUT signal.
