The Green Party’s Howie Hawkins weighs in on the shift of leadership in the Assembly and his objections to Governor Cuomo’s education agenda items.
Many education stakeholders are furious that Governor Cuomo does not plan to release the proposed education aid runs until after the state budget is passed. They say it inhibits districts from creating budgets for the next year. Schenectady Superintendent Larry Spring and the Executive Director of the Statewide School Finance Consortium Dr. Rick Timbs explain how not releasing the runs could mean missed deadlines and less community involvement in the school budget process.
Last night, the Assembly announced that Majority Leader Joseph Morelle (D – Rochester) will serve as the interim Assembly Speaker beginning Monday Feb. 2.
