Paid family leave is on the table during budget discussions, but there are two competing bills at play. Today, we’ll hear about both versions of the legislation. Sen. Jeff Klein, IDC Leader (D – Bronx), will discuss the version he has sponsored, which would pay up to half of an employees income for six weeks. Later in the show, Sen. Joseph Addabbo (D – Queens) will discuss the legislation he has sponsored with Asm. Cathy Nolan (D – Ridgewood) that has the support of the Assembly majority. His bill would mandate up to 12 weeks of leave and pay up to two-thirds of the employees’ income, while also updating the state’s disability benefits.
