April 6, 2015: Dennis Vacco and David Leven (Feb. 5 air-date); Roger Downs and John Sheehan
April 6, 2015
Today half our show is a best-of, and half is brand new never before seen or heard in the 48 contiguous states.
The part you may have heard before revolves around a 1997 U.S. Supreme decision that held New York’s prohibition on assisting suicide does not violate the Equal Protection Clause. Former Attorney General of New York Dennis Vacco argued the case and joins us to discuss a similar lawsuit that was recently announced in Manhattan. The new plaintiffs – again, they are terminally ill patients – argue that New York’s Constitution allows doctors and patients to make end-of-life decisions, about their bodies. You will also hear an interview with David Leven, Executive Director of End of Life Choices New York and one of the plaintiffs in the case. (Original air-date Feb. 5, 2015.)
The new part of today’s show features enviros discussing the new state budget. We will hear from Roger Downs, the Conservation Director of the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter, and John Sheehan, the Director of Communications for the Adirondack Council.◄ Back to PodCasts
