Yesterday, the Regents voted unanimously to select MaryEllen Elia as the State’s first female State Education Commissioner. We’ll hear reaction from the New York State Council of School Superintendents Bob Lowry and the New York State School Boards Association Executive Director Timothy Kremer.
We’ll also hear from Dr. Rick Timbs, the executive director of the Statewide School Finance Consortium, on the appointment of the new commissioner, as well as the decision to have Sen. Carl Marcellino (R – Oyster Bay) head the Senate Education Committee.
The Fiscal Policy Institute Executive Director Ron Deutsch and Senior Fellow Elizabeth McNichol look at a new FPI report, “What in the World Happened to Property Tax Relief?”
