New York State has new Education Commissioner. MaryEllen Elia was unanimously voted into the position by the State Board of Regents this week. But the state remains deeply divided on education policy. This week we heard how a few education stakeholders feel about this new pick.

While the General Electric Company is just about done with the Hudson River dredging it is legally bound to do, there are those who want to see the company continue the process, including the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Whatever happened to property tax relief? Ron Deutsch and Elizabeth McNichol of the Fiscal Policy Institute asked that question in Albany this week.
