July 14, 2015: Scott Waldman, Dr. David Carpenter, Jake Palmateer, Rob Astorino
July 14, 2015
This week, federal hearings will be held throughout the state on the potential environmental impact of the Northeast Energy Direct natural gas pipeline, a proposed line that would transport fracked natural gas from Pennsylvania, through New York, to Boston. We’ll hear first from Capital New York energy and environment reporter Scott Waldman. Then Dr. David Carpenter, a public health physician who serves as director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at SUNY Albany, will explain the health and environmental effects the natural gas pipeline could have.
We will speak with Second Amendment advocate Jacob Palmateer, a member of the executive committee of NY2A, about opposition to the SAFE Act Memorandum of Understanding between the Governor and Senate Republicans. Palmateer goes as far as to say the Senate GOP “has lost its way” and gun rights advocates are “not afraid of seeing the GOP lose the Senate majority in 2016.”
Finally, Westchester County Executive and the 2014 Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino discusses the controversies over education policy in New York, the changes to the SAFE Act, and if the state is on the right track.◄ Back to PodCasts
