July 15, 2014: campaign filings, Brian Jones, Dr. Kim Griswold and Marlene Schillinger, secular invocation in Greece, NY

Today is the deadline for political campaign financial filings in New York. We speak with Jeanne Zaino, Professor of Political Science & International Studies at Iona College & Huffington Post contributor about trends in campaigning.

Green Party Lt. Governor candidate Brian Jones discusses education policy.

More refugees find homes in western New York than in any other part of the state including New York City. For that reason, the WNY Center for Survivors of Refugee Trauma and Torture is critical. We speak with Dr. Kim Griswold, the medical director of the Center and Marlene Schillinger, President of the Jewish Family Services Center which helped bring the Center to Buffalo.

Dan Courtney, an atheist, is scheduled to deliver an invocation before the Greece Town Board today. In May, the town of Greece was at the center of a Supreme Court ruling that permitted prayer before public meetings. We will speak with Courtney and Robyn Blumner, spokesperson for Openly Secular and the Executive Director for the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.
