Concerned Health Professionals of New York last week sent a letter to the state’s acting Health Commissioner asking to meet about the health impacts of hydrofracking. The group has created a compendium of scientific information which it says demonstrates risks and harms of fracking. One of the members, Dr. Sandra Steingraber, Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Ithaca College, joins us with details.
Governor Cuomo, Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, GE’s Jeffrey Immelt and a group of elected officials yesterday announced a new multi-million dollar semiconductor partnership between the state, GE, IBM and the Albany nano college. The work will involve silicon carbide, a new polymer used to create circuitry. How will the technology work? How will the public private partnership work?
