New WCNY health program premiered Feb. 3 on WCNY
January 30, 2014
WCNY, in partnership with four doctors from Central New York, will take viewers on a journey to better health beginning at 9 p.m. Feb. 3 on WCNY with a new WCNY-produced program, Cycle of Health.
The weekly half-hour program will share stories about people pursuing healthy and happy lives. The new show features doctors from a variety of specialties. The physicians bring to life compelling stories of how physical and emotional well-being can be just as effective in delivering good health as diet and exercise.
Cycle of Health will be hosted by Susan Kennedy, an accomplished television anchor, producer, reporter and education innovator who has done work for commercial television stations in Chicago and Denver, and public television in Bethlehem, Pa.
Kennedy will be joined by the doctors, who take viewers around the region to meet people leading healthy lifestyles. The show’s doctors bring energy to the program through their own passion for cycling, running, swimming, exercising and other active-living hobbies.
The doctors are:
- Rich O’Neill, Ph.D., a psychologist and behavioral scientist at Upstate Medical Center
- Dr. George Stanley, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Syracuse Community Health Center
- Dr. John Parker, an orthopedic surgeon at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists
- Dr. Maritza Alvarado, medical director of the Syracuse City School District
