January 3, 2017
The 2017 Legislative Session begins tomorrow. Sen. Joseph Griffo (R- Rome) joined us with a sneak preview of what we can expect. He explained why several lawmakers are looking at ways to check Gov. Cuomo’s power this year.
John Kaehny, the executive director of Reinvent Albany, argued that while a special session did not ultimately happen, the backroom deals and back and forth between the Legislature and the Governor in the last weeks of 2016 represented the worst of Albany politics and do not bode well for the 2017 session.
Then a conversation on poverty, the People’s State of the State and 2017 progressive priorities with Ron Deutsch, the executive director of the Fiscal Policy Institute, and Karen Scharff, the executive director of the Citizen Action of New York.

We heard more from former Buffalo Public Schools Teacher and community activist Lorna Hill.◄ Back to PodCasts
