July 1, 2016: Michael Johnson, Glenn Blain, Peter Mantius, Joe Heath and Sandra Steingraber, Kirsten Keefe

Susan spoke with City & State Editorial Director Michael Johnson about this week’s Winners and Losers.

Glenn Blain, an Albany reporter with the NY Daily News, joined us for a look at the headlines of the week.

We discussed two stories on Crestwood’s storage of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in Seneca Lake. First Peter Mantius, a freelance writer and Watkins Glen resident, explained controversies over the approval process for the project. Then attorney Joe Heath and Dr. Sandra Steingraber, an environmental advocate and Scholar-in-Residence at Ithaca College, explained a strange hearing for a Seneca Lake protestor where the judge declared the protestor guilty before the defense made its case.

Finally, we heard how the state plans to tackle zombie properties from Kirsten Keefe, a senior staff attorney at the Empire Justice Center.
