July 11, 2016: Start-Up NY, Asm. Steve McLaughlin, NY’s clean energy future

Best-of episode
First up, reaction from the low Start-Up New York numbers from two people on the opposite end of the political spectrum—Ron Deutsch, the executive director of the Fiscal Policy Institute, and Brandon Muir, the executive director at Reclaim New York.

Then Asm. Steve McLaughlin (R – Rensselaer County) scored two victories last week when a Congressional Oversight Committee announced an investigation of the Hoosick Falls water crisis on the same day the Assembly Speaker announced hearings into the issue, as well. Late last week, the Senate announced it will also hold its own hearings.

Then two conversations about renewable energy in advance of the PSC’s expected approval of the state’s new energy standards. First, we speak with Cara Lee, senior conservation manager for The Nature Conservancy in New York; then with Bradley Jones, the President and CEO of the New York Independent System Operator.
