July 19, 2017: John Kane

The Seneca Nation and the State of New York are in a dispute over whether the Nation still owes money to the state under a gaming compact. Recently, while in western New York, the Governor stated “the Senecas have a history of litigation with the state, with local governments. They have a history of signing agreements and then later having non-compliance issues and I hope they don’t repeat that.” The Seneca’s now say the Governor “insulted” them. Meanwhile, local municipalities, many of which are strapped for cash are stuck in the middle. Native American activist and radio host John Kane gave an update on the situation.
