The opioid crisis has impacted the nation with many looking for answers. We spoke with Senator Fred Akshar (R – Colesville), Co-Chair of the Senate Heroin Task Force, about his recent legislation to fight the crisis. Alexis Pleus, the founder of Truth Pharm who lost her son to opioid addiction, discussed the ways her organization is trying to change policy. Stephanie Campbell, Executive Director of Friends for Recovery-New York, remembered those who we have lost to addiction. And finally, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar (D) explained the effects the crisis has had on his county and how the Broome Opioid Abuse Council (BOAC) is addressing it.
