WCNY to air American Masters’ ‘Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart’ Nov. 1, 2, 4 and 6

WCNY, Central New York’s Public Broadcasting company, will air a special program in tribute to the late Lou Reed.

“Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart” takes an in-depth look at Reed’s achievements, from his role as lead singer/songwriter for the Velvet Underground, the highly influential band produced by Andy Warhol, through his prolific career; to his rock opera collaboration with director Robert Wilson.

It airs:

  • 9 p.m. Nov. 1 on World
  • 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 2 on World
  • 9:30 p.m. Nov. 4 on Plus
  • 2 p.m. Nov. 6 on WCNY

Reed speaks candidly about his career and most challenging musical work. The program also looks at rare behind-the-scenes footage, clips and vintage material. It also features dozens of interviews with fellow performers David Bowie, Patti Smith, Penn Jillette and others.
