Not everyone is happy with the DEC’s decision to deny the Constitution Pipeline water-quality permit. E. J. McMahon, president and founder of the Empire Center, said the decision will hurt the already struggling Southern Tier.

Elizabeth Moran, a Water and Natural Resources Associate with Environmental Advocates of New York State, and Marc Smith, the Policy Director at the National Wildlife Federation, discussed a controversial request by Waukesha, Wisconsin to withdraw 16 million gallons of water daily from Lake Michigan. If the request is approved, surrounding areas, including Great Lakes regions of New York, will be affected.

A year after the death of prisoner Samuel Harrell in the Fishkill Correctional Facility, we looked at whether New York is set to enact any substantive criminal justice reforms, including changes to solitary confinement. Correctional Association of New York Executive Director Soffiyah Elijah joined Susan.

Sen. Neil Breslin (D – Albany) provided an update on where legislation to bring Uber to upstate New York stands.
