A special presentation of Connect: NY Dope but no Hope. We will explore New York’s struggle with drug addiction – the size of the epidemic, who is getting addicted, and why people without economic resources suffer in ways that others may not. We have 4 experts on the panel:
• Professor Dessa Bergen-Cico is a Fellow of the American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders and an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health at Syracuse University
• Dr. Indu Gupta is the Onondaga County Health Commissioner & co-chair of the Onondaga County Drug Task force
• Alexis Pleus is a mother who lost her son to drug addiction and founder of the non-profit organization TruthPharm, Inc., which works to raise awareness around and reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorders.
• Stephanie Campbell is the New York Acting Executive Director of “Friends of Recovery”
