Because of financial struggles, New York’s health insurance co-op Health Republic collapsed, which could leave 200,000 New Yorkers uninsured. However, the state has announced an extension for this year’s open enrollment and an automatic enrollment into the system for affected consumers. Donna Frescatore, the executive director of the New York Health Benefit Exchange, will join Susan Arbetter to explain the state’s mitigation efforts.
Sen. Tom O’Mara (R – Elmira), the Chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee, will explain his legislative priorities to meet the state’s environmental needs.
We meet newly minted 52nd District Sen. Fred Akshar (R – Binghamton) who won last week’s special election. Susan will speak with him about addressing the heroin crisis, the age of criminal responsibility and strengthening NY’s economy.
Despite a Republican enrollment advantage, Cayuga County Democrats won the majority of city and county races last week. Ian Philips, the county Democratic Chair, will fill us in on why Cayuga Democrats saw such success in the area.◄ Back to PodCasts
