Capitol Pressroom

Nov. 19, 2015: Sen. DeFrancisco, Jim Heaney, Rick Timbs, Jerry Kremer

Senator John DeFrancisco (R – Syracuse) will join Susan Arbetter to discuss refugees and education.

Jim Heaney, founder, editor and Executive Director of Investigate Post, will explain Erie County’s party line divide over whether the county should continue accepting Syrian refugees. He will also analyze data on how the state receives refugees.

Attorney General Schneiderman announced that the state will sue the Utica City School District for an alleged bias against refugees. Local lawmakers are claiming the suit is only a retaliation effort against the district joining the Small Cities Lawsuit on insufficient funding. Rick Timbs, the executive director of the Statewide School Finance Consortium, will discuss the case.

Former Assemblyman and Empire Government Strategies founder and Chairman Arthur “Jerry” Kremer will weigh in on natural gas shortages in New York and the state’s energy future.
