Oct. 26: 2016: Sen. Liz Krueger, Rich Honen, League of Women Voters, John Kaehny

More on the short-term rental statute from Sen. Liz Krueger (D – Manhattan), who championed the legislation this past session.

Then we spoke with Rich Honen, a partner at Phillips Lytle LLP who focuses his practice in corporate, finance and venture capital law and complex commercial litigation, about whether New York regulation, like the new Airbnb law, is hampering consumer-driven tech business across the state.

The League of Women Voters has launched the 2016 Vote 411 electronic voter guide. We heard from the League’s Director of Program and Policy Jennifer Wilson and Legislative Director Barbara Bartoletti about the guide and other voting issues in New York.

Then John Kaehny, the executive director of Reinvent Albany, explained watchdog groups’ letter to Empire State Development President & CEO Howard Zemsky urging him to stop using state nonprofits and SUNY for economic development contract awards because, watchdogs argue, it makes these contracts more prone to corruption and abuse.
