Sept. 5, 2013: Sen. Stewart Cousins, “death penalty for schools,” tax reform

Senate Minority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins discusses her priorities for the next session.

According to Billy Easton of the Alliance for Quality Education, schools in New York have already been sentenced to death thanks to teacher layoffs – so there’s no need for a “death penalty for schools”.

We will speak with Tim Kremer of the New York State School Boards Association about the challenges facing districts across the state as they continue to roll out the Common Core.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman John DeFrancisco and Sen. Carl Marcellino of Long Island discuss the Senate hearings being conducted this week on tax reform.
