Many of our supporters have left a legacy gift to WCNY in their will. You can also convert stock into a planned gift, give an annuity as a gift, name WCNY as the beneficiary of your 401(K) account, or create a life insurance policy to help ensure the long-term future of WCNY. We offer several ways that you can participate in our planned giving program.
Estate gifts can be made to WCNY through an individual’s will. You may decide to give WCNY a specific dollar amount, a set percentage of your estate or a specific asset, or include WCNY as a contingent or residual beneficiary of your estate.
Naming WCNY as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy is another way to give to our organization.
WCNY graciously accepts gifts of appreciated securities. Not only are these gifts beneficial to WCNY, but as a benefit of giving appreciated assets, you would be entitled to a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of your securities and would avoid capital gains taxes on the sale of your assets.
The following is information your attorney needs to prepare your bequest.
The Public Broadcasting Council of Central New York, Inc. (WCNY) with current business of 506 old Liverpool Road, Liverpool, NY 13088. WCNY is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The tax identification number is 16-0876277.
You may specify that your gift be used for the general purposes of the organization, which provides WCNY with the most flexibility. Simply have your attorney insert the following language in addition to the language listed above: “to foster and promote the growth, progress, and general welfare of WCNY as the Board of Trustees may direct.”
Gifts to WCNY are tax deductible. An attorney familiar with local probate practice should draft your will, trust or other bequest document. WETA cannot prepare your bequest documents nor act as executor of your estate.
