November 25, 2013
Fans of WCNY and public broadcasting now have a new way to watch their favorite programs when and where they want. Viewers who are Xbox Gold members can stream local and national programming through Xbox 360 devices right to their televisions.
WCNY fans already can stream local and national programs online at video.wcny.org and through Roku set-top boxes.
Xbox Gold members will be able to stream “Financial Fitness,” “Insight,” “Ivory Tower,” and other locally produced WCNY programs; “Antiques Roadshow,” “Call the Midwife,” “Downton Abbey,” and other PBS-produced shows; “Curious George,” “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” and other PBS Kids shows; and on-demand videos from PBS Digital Studios.
Xbox 360 users can access and personalize their PBS experiences by identifying WCNY as the PBS station. That will give them quick access to locally produced shows.
“The ability to have WCNY-produced programs available from yet another platform provides expanded service to our viewers,” said Robert J. Daino, WCNY’s president and CEO. “It also provides WCNY with the opportunity to showcase Central New York by sharing our award-winning programming nationwide.”◄ Back to News
