Impact Program


WCNY’s Impact Giveback Program will celebrate local businesses across Central New York that have shown resilience to survive the pandemic and are prepared to come back strong. They will be featured on WCNY TV and WCNY’s creative services team, in partnership with Ithaca College, will provide a digital media marketing kit to support their efforts to revive and thrive in a post-pandemic economy.

Criteria to Apply

Criteria to Apply:

  1. Organization with less than 75 employees
  2. Consistent commitment to serving the local community
  3. Has shown resilience to survive the pandemic and is prepared to come back strong
  4. Is located in one of these 19 counties:
    Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Ostego, Schuyler, Seneca, Tompkins, Wayne, Yates
  5. Is in one of these sectors:
    1. Dining
    2. Arts & Culture
    3. Retail
    4. Local Services
    5. Other
      *All that meet those criteria are eligible.

WCNY will select 60 local businesses or business districts from throughout the region, including the Oswego-Fulton, Auburn, Ithaca-Cortland, Greater Syracuse, Utica-Rome and other areas between the Finger Lakes and Thousand Islands.

Impact program form

TV Shows

  1. The businesses selected will be featured in three WCNY special televisions shows in which a local leader will take viewers on a tour of your area to meet business owners and discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and how local businesses are fighting back.

On Air Spots

  1. Profiles of individual businesses will air 10 times during the month they are featured on WCNY

Digital Marketing Kits

  1. Each of the businesses selected will receive a digital marketing kit including graphics that can be used on their Web sites and in social media.
  2. The businesses will be listed on the Impact Giveback Program web site

Print Promotions

  1. The businesses will be highlighted in WCNY’s CONNECT magazine
