Sheila Dion took a part-time job as a “lunch lady” in her children’s school and quickly noticed many students asking for extra food to take home with them. What started as a pilot program to help 17 students in the Phoenix School District now provides 40,000 meals each school year, helping hundreds of students and their families overcome food insecurity.
