by
November 14, 2024
The first line of support for the millions of Americans facing life-altering illnesses is family. Yet the role of caring for a loved one is often left out of the conversation about patients and healthcare providers. In this episode of Central Current Radio, hosts Maximilian Eyle and Dr. Roosevelt “Rick” Wright speak with David’s Refuge’s Executive Director Kate Houck. Her organization supports parents and guardians of children with special needs or life-threatening medical conditions. Houck says it’s not a question of “if” we will be caregivers, but “when”. With this in mind, she offers new ways to look at the role. Houck explores the resources available locally and highlights the importance of not overlooking self-care while caring for another.
