New PBS KIDS show ‘Let’s Go Luna!’ premieres on WCNY-TV

WCNY will premiere the new PBS KIDS show “Let’s Go Luna!” Nov. 21. To celebrate, WCNY hosts a free preview of the new show Nov. 17 at WCNY, 415 W. Fayette St. in Syracuse. The event also features a meet-and-greet with WCNY’s new WiCkNeY KIDS mascot, the Connected Caterpillar, photos, snacks and a story time!
“Let’s Go Luna!” encourages children ages 4-7 to explore and appreciate cultures worldwide, and build global citizenship and social skills. Research shows that young children have limited exposure to social studies concepts in school. The show follows the adventures of three friends – Leo, a wombat from Australia; Carmen, a butterfly from Mexico; and Andy, a frog from the U.S. – as they traverse the globe with their parents’ traveling performance troupe, “Circo Fabuloso.” At each of the Circo’s stops, Luna the Moon, voiced by Judy Greer, guides the trio as they get to know the local region and its people. The gang’s adventures take them through cities around the globe – from London to Cairo to Beijing – where they explore the food, music, art, architecture and other features that make each place distinctive.
“Let’s Go Luna!” will air weekdays at 9 a.m. on WCNY, and at 5 p.m. daily on WCNY’s 24/7 WiCkNeY KIDS channel beginning Nov. 21. For viewing information, visit wcny.org/wheretowatch.

In celebration of the new show, WCNY also hosts a “Let’s Go Luna!” Paint Bash, Nov. 17. The event takes place right after the preview at 2:30 p.m. Children ages 4-7 will paint their own Let’s Go Luna! masterpiece with step-by-step instruction from the pros at Painting with a Twist Syracuse-DeWitt, enjoy games, snacks, giveaways and more!
