WCNY’s “On the Money” Explores Buffalo Bills’ Running Back Latavius Murray’s Jon Diaz Community Center in CNY

In this week’s installment of WCNY’s “On the Money,” host J. Daniel Pluff sits down with Buffalo Bills’ running back Latavius Murray to explore his journey and the founding of The Jon Diaz Community Center.

Murray, a CNY native, has set out to create a $5+ million community center named in honor of his deceased friend, Jon Diaz. The center has received funding from Onondaga County and hopes to receive state and federal funding as well.

The John Diaz Community Center aims to provide an outlet and opportunity for kids to get them out of the house, in front of positive influences, and off the streets. The center will focus on both athletics and education.

“I want to see kids in 5, 10, and 20 years from now saying they went to the Jon Diaz Community Center,” said Murray. “I have always said I grew up going to the Boys and Girls Club and how it had a tremendous impact on who I am today, and I want our youth to have that opportunity.”

The episode of “On the Money” premieres on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. on WCNY-TV, and will be available to stream on-demand at video.wcny.org/show/on-money/.
