Repeating History, Episode 19 – Travis Bowman, Author of “Clearing Iroquoia: New York’s Land Grab in the 1779 Campaigns of the American Revolution”

On the latest episode of Repeating History our guest is Travis Bowman. The conversation is centered on Bowman’s recent book he co-authored, Clearing Iroquoia: New York’s Land Grab in the 1779 Campaigns of the American Revolution, which reevaluates wartime campaigns against Native Peoples in light of the dispossession of Haudenosaunee homelands and American colonialism.  This massive American campaign against the British and their Haudenosaunee allies in upstate NY is central to the story of the American Revolution, but is tragically underknown.  As this region, state, and nation wrestle with the complexities of the Revolution and its legacies during this 250th year celebration, this conversation is timely and illuminating.
