Season 2 of “Reading Buddies” premieres Sept. 12 on WCNY-TV

WCNY, Central New York’s community-owned public broadcaster, in partnership with The Reading League will premiere season 2 of “Reading Buddies” on Monday, Sept. 12 at 12:30 p.m. on WCNY-TV.

The Reading League’s “Reading Buddies” is a fun, foundational reading TV series for students PreK-3. The show instructs three important underlying components of skillful word reading: phonological awareness, letter names/sounds, and blending sounds to decode words accurately.

It also features a talking dog named Dusty who, with the help of his best human friend Dott, learns a new trick – how to read! They are joined by a kazoo-talking, robot assistant named Alphabott, and an adorable cast of human Alphabotteers. Together, they form an after-school reading club where Dusty explores letters and their sounds, social-emotional learning, and whatever else sparks his curiosity!

Each episode features a new “Alphabadge” for Dusty to earn, marking the progress of his reading journey. Together, along with the viewers, they are the “Reading Buddies!”

All-new episodes will air weekdays at 12:30 p.m. through October 7  on WCNY-TV. The series is sponsored by Early Childhood Alliance, Hippity Hop Peds, and Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways.

Each episode will be available after it airs on demand at wcny.org/readingbuddies. For viewing information, please visit wcny.org/wheretowatch. To learn more about the series, please visit wcny.org/readingbuddies.
