Classic FM Presents the Music Educator Award

WCNY Classic FM, Central and Northern New York’s community-owned public broadcaster, is celebrating its 50th anniversary as our region’s only classical music station. As part of this observance, we are very pleased to announce a new recognition program for local teachers. At least monthly starting this September and throughout the coming school year, we will honor a deserving Central New York teacher with the Classic FM Music Educator Award.

Each honoree will be recognized on Classic FM and will receive a plaque that we intend to present in person at an appropriate school gathering. The award-winner will also have the opportunity to bring a school ensemble to the WCNY studios in Syracuse to record a performance, which will air on Classic FM.

We feel this is a wonderful opportunity to bring attention and recognition to these dedicated educators, who do so much to help sustain the arts in our community by developing a new generation of musicians. As a public broadcaster, Classic FM is equally dedicated to that cause. So, we are thrilled to present this new program, giving music teachers and their students throughout Central New York the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work and talent.

Nomination forms are available on our website at wcny.org/musiceducator. A WCNY committee will review all incoming nominations and select a new honoree at least monthly starting in September.

Classic FM’s Music Educator Award is sponsored by Symphoria.
