CNY Heroes, Episode 12 – Vietnam Veteran David Acton

David Acton grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Hobart College where he played lacrosse. His college experience ended early, but that started his military service. Acton enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in a mortar unit on the fringe of the Demilitarized Zone. In this edition of CNY Heroes, the Chittenango resident relates his Vietnam experience to host Dan Cummings Acton also talks about his homecoming, how he finished two degrees and had a successful career in hazardous waste response, and how he has for 29 years published an at-least-quarterly newsletter for friends and family.

Innovate to Educate, Episode 13 – “Stackable Credentials” at Morrisville-Eaton

Google created industry-recognized credentials programs to train potential employees in specific areas of their business. Two years ago, Morrisville-Eaton Schools began to offer their high school students the opportunity to earn those certificates through flexible study programs. M-E Middle/High School Principal Nicholas Rauch and Library-Media Specialist Jessica Jacobs-Broedel visited WCNY with seniors Sophia Wilcox and Phoebe Straight, who both received the Google Certificate in Digital Marketing and E-commerce.
