WCNY’s ‘Double Down’ academic quiz show begins Nov. 3

The ninth season of “Double Down,” WCNY’s award-winning high school academic quiz show, debuts Nov. 3. The show airs weekly at 6 p.m. Sundays on WCNY and repeats at 8 p.m. Mondays on World.

Students from 32 schools will compete to win the coveted blueRock Energy Scholastic Award trophy. Teams include last season’s champion, Whitesboro. Other competitors include Fayetteville-Manlius, Bishop Ludden, Cato-Meridian, Christian Brothers Academy, Chittenango, Clinton, Cooperstown, Dolgeville, East Syracuse-Minoa, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton, Ithaca, Jamesville DeWitt, Jordan-Elbridge, LaFayette, Laurens, Manlius Pebble Hill, Mount Markham, New Hartford, Northern Onondaga LEAH, Nottingham, Oneida, Oriskany, Port Byron, Pulaski, Solvay, Southern Cayuga, Union Springs, Vernon Verona Sherrill, Westhill, Westmoreland, Whitesboro and Whitney Point.

Popular WCNY on-air host Bill Baker will moderate each session, challenging the students with questions in the categories of English language, arts and literature; history and geography; math; science; sports and 2013.
