New season of ‘Lidia’s Italy’ set to air Oct.13 on WCNY-TV

The popular PBS cooking show “Lidia’s Italy in America” will return for an all-new season of exploring America’s Italian heritage through food when it premieres at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, on WCNY channel 24.1.

To accompany the new season, Lidia will release her most accessible cookbook to date, “Lidia’s Favorite Recipes.” The book features Lidia’s go-to meals and 100 dishes Lidia and her family have enjoyed time after time.

The book’s publisher, Knopf Books, is holding a giveaway of the Lidia Bastianich book collection, including a signed copy of “Lidia’s Favorite Recipes,” and a package of Lidia’s own pastas and sauces. To enter the giveaway, visit http://bit.ly/Uhqk2Y.

WCNY is bringing Lidia to Syracuse Oct. 25, for a dinner at which guests will enjoy a unique opportunity to dine with the critically acclaimed chef at Justin’s Tuscan Grill, located at 6300 Yorktown Circle in East Syracuse.

The $125 ticket price includes a four-course dinner featuring Lidia’s famous recipes and an opportunity to meet Lidia, who will share stories of her childhood in Italy, her immigration to America, and her love of Italian-American food. Tickets are selling quickly and only a few remain available. They can be purchased online at www.wcny.org/lidia or by calling (315) 453-2424.

“Lidia’s Italy” airs Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. on WCNY channel 24.1 and debuted on public television in September 2011. The show was nominated for an Emmy in 2008 and won the James Beard award for Best Television Show in 2009. That same year, “Entertainment Weekly” named “Lidia’s Italy” one of the best cooking shows on television.
