‘Spatchcock Funk’ Returns for Season 3 on April 7!

WCNY, Central New York’s public communications organization, is excited to announce the return of its locally produced culinary and party show, “Spatchcock Funk.” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, April 7 at 9 p.m. on WCNY-TV and will air in more than 50 U.S. markets, from Los Angeles to Miami.

Hosted by Matt Read, “Spatchcock Funk” delivers easy-to-follow recipes, craft cocktails, and expert party-planning tips—all with a signature mix of fun and authenticity.

This season, the Spatchcock Funk crew spreads the love and puts on a spread, taking viewers on a culinary adventure. From trendy cocktails to fresh spins on classic dishes, the team throws parties you won’t want to miss while showing how to create fun, unique experiences for the people in your life. You bring your friends—they’ve got everything else covered.

Season 3 brings big energy to every gathering, from a make-ahead brunch perfect for recovering after a wild night to stress-free parties for kids and adults alike. The crew serves up a summer clambake, a medieval feast, and a rock-and-roll-inspired celebration, alongside a Southern-style low country boil and office-ready potluck favorites. Viewers will also get a taste of an unplugged weekend getaway and a creative tribute to a local tattoo shop, all leading to a standout finale—an adults-only prom with elevated food, music, and style.

“Season 3 of ‘Spatchcock Funk’ takes the energy, flavor, and fun to the next level,” said Mitch Gelman, president and CEO of WCNY. “This season showcases incredible locations, bold recipes, and the unique storytelling that makes the show stand out. We’re proud to bring this series to audiences across the country as part of the PBS family of great cooking programs.”

“For season 3, we’re really pushing ourselves. We’re hitting our stride as storytellers, and our community keeps growing. For every episode, we threw an actual party with real people, to really lock down that authentic feel. They’re just as fun and wild as they look. We love seeing friend groups merge and new ones form, and that’s what this show is all about,” said Alex DeRosa, executive producer and co-founder of Spatchcock Funk.

Host, executive producer and co-founder Matt Read added, “We’re so amped up to share our adventures with people across the country. We spent a lot of time taking in ideas and thoughts from viewers from coast-to-coast (and here in Syracuse), to create some really cool vibes and menus, drinks and rabble rousing. We’re just grateful to have such great partners, friends and allies to help us tell stories.”

The 10-part series will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. through mid-June on WCNY-TV. The series is sponsored by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, Liberty Tabletop, Visit Syracuse, Crouse Hospital, Food Bank of CNY, and Vince’s Gourmet Imports.
