WCNY, Central New York’s public communications organization, announced that its monthly public affairs series, “CONNECT: NY,” has rebranded as “The Capitol Pressroom.” The program airs the last Monday of each month at 9 p.m. on WCNY-TV and subsequently on stations across New York.
The rebrand aligns the television series with the award-winning journalism from “The Capitol Pressroom,” a daily, statewide program broadcasting from the state Capitol. The radio broadcast and podcast hosted by David Lombardo will continue to provide in-depth reporting and analysis on New York state government and politics, while the television series expands the franchise to offer a visual, long-form public affairs experience for viewers statewide.
Viewers can expect the same lively, insightful discussions, along with in-depth information and analysis on timely issues affecting communities across the Empire State. Hosted by Lombardo, “The Capitol Pressroom” television series examines the public affairs topics that matter most to New Yorkers, exploring personal experiences, key conflicts and challenging issues unfolding at the state level through the perspectives of the stakeholders involved. By presenting a diversity of voices, the series aims to illuminate potential solutions to the complex challenges facing New York state.
“’The Capitol Pressroom’ has earned a loyal following as a trusted source of insight into New York state government and politics,” said Mitch Gelman, president and CEO of WCNY. “While the radio broadcast and podcast will continue exactly as audiences know it, this extension allows us to bring that same depth, credibility, and thoughtful conversation to television, expanding access to meaningful coverage for viewers across the state.”
