WCNY to Host Live Syracuse Mayoral Primary Forum on the Environment on May 7

WCNY, Central New York’s public communications organization, in partnership with the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NYLCVEF), will host the 2025 Syracuse Mayoral Primary Forum on the Environment on Wednesday, May 7 at 8 p.m. on WCNY-TV.

Confirmed Democratic primary candidates participating in the forum are Pat Hogan, Chol Majok, and Sharon Owens. Each candidate will address key environmental issues impacting the city, state, and nation.

The forum will be co-moderated by David Lombardo, host of WCNY’s public affairs programs, “The Capitol Pressroom” and “CONNECT: NY,” and Julie Tighe, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund.

“As Central New York’s public media organization, WCNY is proud to provide a platform for civic engagement and informed dialogue,” said Mitch Gelman, president and CEO of WCNY. “This forum reflects our commitment to empowering voters with the information they need to make thoughtful choices about the future of their city—especially on issues as critical as the environment.

“The most important thing we can do for the environment is vote, and it is absolutely critical that New Yorkers have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates so they can make informed decisions when they go to the polls,” said Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund. “The League has a long history of hosting non-partisan candidate forums, and we’re excited to partner with WCNY to bring together these candidates running for mayor of Syracuse.”

The forum will air live on Wednesday, May 7 at 8 p.m. on WCNY-TV and will also stream online at wcny.org/livestream. For viewing information, visit wcny.org/wheretowatch.
