WCNY will begin accepting entries for its 8th annual Treehouse Tales Young Writers and Illustrators Contest Jan 2. The annual event, open to students in grades 1-4, promotes literacy and creative expression by encouraging children to write and illustrate their own stories.

Students in WCNY’s 19-county viewing area are eligible to enter the contest. The deadline for all entries is March 1. Contest rules and entry forms are available athttp://www.wcny.org/education/treehouse-tales or by contacting Kristoffer Robert, WCNY’s family literacy coordinator, at kristoffer_robert@wcny.org or (315) 453-2424.

All entrants will receive a certificate of participation. WCNY’s judging teams will choose a first-, second- and third-place winner from each grade, with prizes awarded at a public award ceremony in April where winners will present their tales.
