WCNY to present local documentary ‘The Game of Life, Heart and Spirit of the Onondaga’

WCNY will present a new documentary about the origins of lacrosse called “The Game of Life, Heart and Spirit of the Onondaga” Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10:45 p.m. on WCNY channel 24.1. “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” a new, vibrant animated series for preschoolers, airs for the first time on Monday, Sept. 3, on WiCkNeY Kids, weekdays at 11 a.m. on WCNY channel 24.1. WCNY chosen to take part in national literacy seminar in Washington, D.C.

PBS has invited WCNY’s director of education and community engagement and WCNY’s director of fundraising to take part in the “Ready to Learn Seminar: Leveraging Literacy and Math Resources for Community Impact” in Washington, D.C., Sept. 13 and 14. The Ready to Learn initiative develops engaging PBS KIDS “Raising Readers” television programs, educational games, playful Web sites and easy-to-use learning resources for children, parents, caregivers and teachers. WCNY will present a 40th anniversary “Bluegrass Ramble” special on Monday, Sept. 3, at 10 p.m. on WCNY channel 24.1 It highlights Bill Knowlton’s 40th anniversary Bluegrass Ramble Picnic, held Aug. 5 at Dwyer Memorial Park in Little York.
