PBS to present Wagner’s complete ‘Ring Cycle’ of operas Sept. 11 to 14

WCNY-TV presents Wagner’s complete “Ring Cycle” of operas on “Great Performances at the Met,” a rare television event that PBS has presented just twice in the last 30 years, at 9 p.m. each night, Sept. 11 to 14, on WCNY channel 24.1 and in high definition on WCNY channel 24.4. New ‘Artifex’ arts program to premier on WCNY Sept. 23

WCNY, Central New York’s public broadcasting company, this month will introduce a new weekly arts program that will feature local and national stories about film, visual and performing arts, theater, photography, literature, painting, sculpture, poetry and dance. “Artifex” will premiere at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, on WCNY channel 24.1 and continue weekly in that Sunday timeslot. WCNY to host community Shred-A-Thon

WCNY will host a communitywide Shred-A-Thon from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at its headquarters located at 506 Old Liverpool Road in Liverpool. WCNY staff members will begin shredding efforts earlier in the day as part of their preparations to move to Syracuse’s Near Westside. The public is invited to bring items to shred as part of this green initiative that can help protect consumers from identity theft. Suggested items to shred include old checkbooks, financial statements, old bills, contracts, manuscripts and personal letters. A $5 donation is suggested. Prior to joining WCNY, she was a consultant for Blue Highway Inc. and was responsible for website and social media content delivery.
